As experience builds up, a consensus starts to appear in the industry that those losses have historically been underestimated at pre-construction stage.
The internship will be articulated according to steps below:
An extensive literature review on wind turbine degradation modes and their expected relevance with respect to energy yield, as well as on degradation models.
The student will gather data from analyses made by 3E over the past 10 years and more on operational wind farms across western Europe and perform statistical analyses to extract relevant degradation trends .
Those observations will be critically compared with the academic literature and with various degradation models.
The results of the work will be integrated in 3E’s standard process from energy yield assessment and will support methodological changes when it comes to estimating the long-term energy yield losses.
