TVETProgrammeManager Role Purpose Lead on BritishCouncilMalawiTVET/Skills and education projects delivery to meet specific project targets and the wider projects objectives.
The role will require working with partners, clients and stakeholders to achieve a strong performance of programming that meets our strategic goals in Malawi and contributes to those of BritishCouncil Sub-Saharan Africa and globally.
Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:
Project delivery:
Lead implementation of TVET and other education projects, including workplanning, tracking deliverables, applying good judgement to pre-empting, solving delivery challenges, demonstrate accountability for high quality outputs, good practice, compliance, being an effective point of contact on project management issues.
Financial management.
Planning, managing and reporting on project finances and resources competently in coordination with relevant colleagues and in line with guidelines and standards.
This includes accurate forecasting, financial controls, ensuring procurement plans in place in line with project plans, promoting value for money, accountability and transparency.
Stakeholder management - Establish, nurture and sustain productive, trusting relationships with key internal and external stakeholders that facilitate quality and timely delivery; working collaboratively in support of project and organisational objectives, competently presenting projects to stakeholders, identifying project success stories for stakeholder communications.
Risk and issues management.
Leading on managing project delivery risks, proactively identifying challenges and issues recommending remedial action as appropriate, ensuring delivery operates within projects’ risk appetite, escalating risks and issues as appropriate.
Monitoring, Learning.
Track, monitor and identify learning, tracking projects’ performance and results including generating, utilising evidence to improve the effectiveness of the projects.
Adapting interventions as necessary in line with lesson learning to maximise value for money.
Managing people.
Line manage Project Officer(s), their performance and development ensuring appropriate skillsets deepened to meet current and future projects and business needs.
Person specification Minimum requirements:
University Degree in relevant field 5 years’ experience in the TVET/skills sector or broader education sector Strong experience of education/skills or education to employment international development sector Experience of successfully managing small to medium scale donor-funded projects in Malawi or another country with a similar operating environment Business writing skills Desirable:
