Due to the global nature of the role and diverse locations of work and suppliers, the SeniorGlobalFreightProcurementManager has significant autonomy to prepare their own schedules, arrange supplier visits and conduct negotiations in line with pre-agreed boundaries.
This role will work collaboratively to develop and share best practice amongst the wider distribution team and procurement colleagues.
This is a hybrid position where you would be expected to be onsite 23 days per week on average.
Two key functions are - Supplier Relationship Management for allocated globalfreight suppliers providing shipment solutions for capital equipment, inbound raw materials, inter-company and outbound shipments. Global Category Leadership for the freight category. What will you be doing:
Manage global suppliers within remit, with a spend in excess of USD100m pa, and which have a direct impact on CooperVision operations.
Supplier Relationship will include managing contracts, negotiating prices, monitoring performance and co-ordinating projects. Be the Global Category Lead within remit, working with Senior Director, Global Distribution Operations to develop, share and implement strategies relating to the procurement of freight services to meet global needs.
Provide category expertise and guidance to the business, including market and supplier awareness.
The role requires the job holder to work across the freight supplier base and with all CV operating sites and colleagues particularly within the following functions – distribution operations, procurement, supply chain and finance.
The remit for this role is for global primary and secondary freight, including movements relating to:
Capital equipment or project freight.
The shipments of raw materials inbound to CV operations.
Shipments between sites.
Outbound shipments to customers and consumers.
Essential responsibilities:
Build and develop relationships with key vendors, driving cost reduction and encouraging innovation within a controlled, regulated framework.
Act as the point of contact for all commercial matters between CV and the supplier, providing support for other CV colleagues dealing with suppliers.
Negotiate commercial agreements in line with business strategy, working with site and legal teams.
Seek opportunities to leverage spend, including the development of long-term supply agreements as appropriate.
Negotiate prices and communicate these to the relevant CV stakeholder groups.
Monitor vendor performance and hold regular business performance reviews.
Lead improvement actions as appropriate.
Work with suppliers and CV technical teams on change projects; prioritize these projects to best meet CV objectives.
Monitor supplier financial health and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate supply risk to CV.
Obtain, review and communicate forecasts; monitor performance and co-ordinate issue resolution and improvement.
Provide Category Management Leadership for allocated categories:
Combine an understanding of CooperVision spend, current and future demand, with market knowledge and stakeholder inputs to develop, agree & implement sourcing strategy for the category to provide best value (service, cost, quality), resilience, compliance and sustainability.
Document, agree and communicate category strategy with CV leadership and stakeholders.
Lead the selection, introduction and qualification of new global suppliers, including leadership of the RFQ, and vendor selection process, Undertake periodic spend reviews to identify and deliver savings / value adding opportunities Monitor industry trends and drivers to ensure.
that category objectives are achieved, and to ensure that CV is aware of alternative and developing technologies.
Lead procurement process for global contracts (tendering, bid evaluation and review, negotiations, contracts).
Contribute to risk assessment processes and recommend mitigation actions.
Other responsibilities Provide information for operational and financial purposes, including the setting of standards and budgets.
Prepare travel plans for approval by Senior Director and submit expenses in line with CV policy.
Travel Requirements:
National / regional travel twice per month; international travel three to four times per year.
Work Environment:
Mostly within an office environment, and as part of a team in diverse geographic locations.Extensive use of computers and telephones.Requirement for travel.
International travel 3-4 times per year.
What are we looking for? Qualification in higher education or a professional qualification Negotiation training Contract Law Procurement qualification such as MCIPS or equivalent Minimum of seven years’ experience in procurement, some of which should be in a seniorprocurement or supply chain position in medical device or other regulated industry.
Negotiator with a sound knowledge of negotiation techniques and practices and has previously led contracts >USD10m.
Experience of working within defined quality systems such as ISO9001 or ISO13485.
Membership of a relevant professional body.
Contract law and the application of master services agreements.
In addition, you’ll have experience in:
Ability to engage and influence at director level and above, both within CV and supplier organisations.
Strong and confident personality, ability to act as the category lead across a global business and supply base and work independently.
Demonstrated ability to develop strategic supplier relationships.
Understanding of commercial law, and ability to develop and construct a range of supplier contracts. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, competent in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Familiar with operating within a fast moving results orientated Business.
Well organized, methodical and detailed conscious, with a high level of personal integrity & professionalism.
