The Departments of Physics and Chemistry in the Faculty of Science are looking for a full-time (%) postdoctoralscholarshipholder in the field of physics or chemistry - electronparamagneticresonance(EPR).PositionYou will conduct research in the framework of a multi-disciplinary project OPTRIBITS:
“Optically Addressable Trityl-Radical-based Molecular Qubits” which is funded by the ERA-NET “Quantera” initiative.
The project is a collaboration with two other research institutes in Europe (ICMAB – CSIC, Spain and the University of Stuttgart, Germany) and focuses on trityl-based molecular qubits and their hybrids with single-wall carbon nanotubes.
Your role within the project is the synthesis of these hybrids and their advanced spectroscopic analysis with a combination of magnetic resonance and optical spectroscopy, mainly focusing on different continuous-wave and pulsed electronparamagneticresonance techniques, including also optically-detected magnetic resonance.
You will be working at the shared EPR facility () in the NANOrOPT and TSM2 research groups under the guidance of Prof.
Sofie Cambré () and Prof.
Sabine Van Doorslaer ( )You will publish scientific papers related to the research project. You will interact with the other researchers in the project and the international collaborators and assist in the supervision of PhD students in the project. You will participate in the provision of academic services:
you will represent the research group both internally and externally, help to coordinate service projects, and so on.ProfileYou hold a PhD in the field of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Physics (or you will have obtained it by the time you start work). You have a solid background in spectroscopic methods; a specific background in (pulsed) electronparamagneticresonance and/or optically-detected magnetic resonance is a strong advantageYou have a good basic knowledge in materials sciences; knowledge on carbon nanotubes or molecular quantum bits is also an advantageYou enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team.Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and .Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s .You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation. You can speak and write fluently in English. You have not worked for longer than 3 years in BelgiumWhat we offerWe offer a full-time appointment as a postdoctoralscholarshipholder for a period of 2 years; possibly extended with 1 additional year. The planned start date is July 1, or as soon as possible after that date.Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the for postdoctoralscholarshipholders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch:
