This position reports into the Director for EMEA GovernmentAffairs (and Sustainability) and provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public or government environment to a 3M career.

Here, you will make an impact by:
Implementing GovernmentAffairs plans with EU Institutions & BeneluxGovernments, directed towards protecting company's reputation and enhancing sustainable technologies’ deployment in Europe.Monitoring and advocating on key legislative issues, government positions and decisions and pro-actively inform GA leaders and advise internal decision makers on risks, opportunities, and actions to be taken.
Special focus on the Green Deal’s execution (e.g.
environmental legislation, circular economy and corporate governance).Drafting policy papers, responses, comments and other research for submission to EU Institutions and BeneluxGovernments and national / regional bodies related to public policy matters.Providing counsel, insight and support to GA leadership and the Management on government-related issues and activities, including ESG-related public policies.Working closely with GA and business leaders to identify government-related growth opportunities; raising 3M’s profile and reputation with relevant stakeholders.Developing and maintaining relationships with key external influencers and stakeholders in EU Institutions and BeneluxGovernments, and in industry associations to achieve appropriate outcomes and meeting opportunities.Acting as Point of Contact for Compliance and working together with Ethics and Compliance’s teams to achieve the highest level of ethical standards and FCPA compliance in all activities.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
University Degree in either Economics and/or Political Science and/or Law.Profound experience in the field of government relations (+/ - 10 years).Fluent in English and Flemish / Dutch, and preferably a good level of French and/or German.Deep understanding of policy-making processes of the EU and that of the BENELUX countries (focus on Belgium & The Netherlands).Strong interest and capability in analysing EU legislations and preparing contributions for policy stakeholders (knowledge of EU Green Deal regulatory framework).Good networks in relevant EU institutions and in the BENELUX countries (+ skills in developing relationships).Former work experience in those institutions / govts required.Effective communicator at all levels with good inter-personal skills and ability to communicate complex political issues.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Travel is limited to Europe and Benelux (Belgium and The Netherlands) as the position is based in Brussels.
