In the Neuroscience Discovery group, our researchers are exploring the emerging science of neuronal proteostasis, synaptic function, and neuroinflammation, with an emphasis on developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

This unique position fits in our pursuit to develop novel treatments to address the high unmet need in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders, tackling the most challenging medical problems of our time, and contributing to the advancement of science and the field of medicine.

The position is lab-based and the primary responsibility of the hire is to provide technical and scientific support for conducting research involving in vitro preclinical studies and supporting analyses from in vivo studies.

The Scientist interprets and integrates data and makes recommendations for critical discovery project decisions and achievement of project goals.

The qualified candidate will work in cross-functional teams, including program project teams and functional partners to perform studies and report results back to project teams and key stakeholders.

General tasks & responsibilities include but are not limited to:


* Plan and conduct scientific experiments, analyze, interpret, and present data in a clear presentation-ready format to support preclinical and development programs or areas of biological exploration.


* Support studies with biochemical analyses, histology, and development of molecular and biological tools & assays.


* Provides input and troubleshoots problems with scientific experiments, analyses, and tasks in assigned areas.


* Assist in generating and validation of technical reports, and review reports for accuracy and completeness.


* Aids in developing recommendations for improving standard procedures.


* Maintains accurate documentation and timely reporting in the Electronic Lab Notebook, in compliance with the Discovery Data Integrity guidelines.


* Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) laboratory safety standards and maintain company compliance requirements.


* Maintains current laboratory equipment and operates analytical and other instruments.


* Places orders in purchasing systems or maintains supplies to support projects proactively.


* Attend in-house seminars and local/regional scientific meetings in own field.


* MSc degree, or BSc degree with 5 years of experience, in Neuroscience or related biological science with prior hands-on lab-based experience in either an academic or pharmaceutical setting.


* Experience in molecular & cellular biology techniques such as qPCR, cell culture, biochemical assays, ICC, IHC and microscopy, SDS-PAGE, etc.


* Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.


* Proven ability to work independently in a hands-on laboratory setting, self-motivated to learn and develop new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.


* Strong organizational skills.


* Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).


* Works with colleagues as a team player.


* Hands-on experience with in vivo techniques (routine animal handling, dissections, IHC) is preferred.

Accreditation or Certification of Regularization by Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA B or C), or similar foreign certification.
