To strengthen our sweeteners and carbohydratesdevelopment team, we are looking for a DownstreamProcess Innovation Engineer tolead R&D activities in support of our industrial plants and to contributeto the execution of the innovation projects for product and process development,at lab and pilot scale.
You will also lead technology scouting and ecosystemmapping activities in your area of expertise – refining and downstreamprocessing – to drive a long term technology strategy.Your missions :
Support the R&D team in attaining short-term and long-termdevelopment goalsDevelop/improve product and processes :
use of research capabilities andknow-how to develop new products and improve existing products and processes atour industrial sitesExecute research :
prototype development; product characterization;laboratory, pilot and industrial trialsBuild expertise :
review scientific literature and patent publications,connect with external expert network, participate to conferencesBuild expertise related to downstreamprocesses in general and to waterand wastewater treatment in particular; by the usage of membrane processes,adsorption and other relevant technologiesSupport the plants with continuous optimization projects (productivity,yield, energy, water…)Contribute or manage innovation related projects from lab scale, pilot scalethrough pre-engineering and commissioning; design, conceptualise and performpilot trials, as well assist production tests on sitePrepare the pre-engineering study – including process modelling, designand technology, cost - prior to hand-over of projects to the capex andengineering teamAct as a team member or project leader in (cross)department projectsContribute to the R&D roadmap process :
brainstorming and ideation,stage gate project meetings, reporting, as well to feed the R&D technologyroadmap process, technology assessmentPlan and follow up the work of lab techniciansExecute lab and pilot safety audits, review SOP management andcontribute to the implementation of good lab management practices and 5SstandardsYour profile :
Master degree in :
BioprocessEngineer and Biochemical Engineer, Bio-Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering (or comparable) with minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in the food or biotransformation industry, water treatment on downstreamprocessesKnowledge andhands-on experience in process development and troubleshooting for microfiltration, ultrafiltration, or reverse osmosis technologiesFamiliar with refining and purificationtechnologies, in particular Ion exchange and activated carbon techniques forwater and syrup treatmentExperience with process technology in general :
from lab to pilot scaleKnowledge and experience on data acquisition andrecording, especially in Excel or similar software toolsStrong communication and teamwork skills, flexibleand capable in setting prioritiesCritical analyticalthinking and problem-solving capabilities, results orientedAbility to constructivelyinteract with colleagues from a wide variety of roles within the companyTeam player, proactive mindset, a senseof urgency, and an ability to work and manage multiple projects independentlyTheposition is based in Aalst, Belgium, where the Tereos Corporate TechnologyCenter is located.
Traveling to the Tereos Campus Europe in France, theproduction sites and the external partners is needed.
Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
