Job Overview:
Our client school is seeking a passionate and experienced Middle Years Programme (MYP) PerformingArtsTeacher to join a dynamic faculty.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in performingarts education, with a focus on delivering engaging and challenging instruction to students in grades 6 through 10.
This individual will play a vital role in fostering creativity, self-expression, and artistic development among our diverse student body.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Design and implement comprehensive performingarts curriculum, incorporating relevant standards, objectives, and assessments.
Instructional Delivery:
Deliver high-quality instruction in various performingarts disciplines, including but not limited to music, drama, and dance, utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to accommodate different learning styles.
Student Engagement:
Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity, express themselves artistically, and develop their talents to their fullest potential.
Assessment and Feedback:
Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback on performance, technique, and artistic expression.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with colleagues within the performingarts department, as well as across other disciplines, to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and foster cross-curricular connections.
Extracurricular Activities:
Lead and/or support extracurricular activities such as drama productions, musical performances, talent shows, and other performingarts events to showcase student talents and enhance the school community.
Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of current trends, best practices, and pedagogical advancements in performingarts education, including participation in relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
Parent and Community Engagement:
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and opportunities for growth in the performingarts, as well as actively engage with the wider community through performances, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in PerformingArts, Drama, Music, Dance, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
Teaching certification/license (or equivalent) in PerformingArts Education or relevant subject area.
Previous experience teaching performingarts at the middle school or secondary level, preferably within an IB or MYP framework.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more performingarts disciplines (e.g., music theory, acting techniques, choreography).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and community stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Passion for the performingarts and dedication to nurturing students' artistic growth and development.
