We are looking for a focalpoint, ready to do research, product development and project design in the expertise areas of Belgian Red Cross – Flanders, with a focus on DisasterPreparedness.
Experience in the expertise areas is not essential, as Belgian Red Cross - Flanders will provide all the relevant training, but you must be open to learning the ropes and have a good feel for practical organization as well as a strong sense of the accrual and transfer of knowledge.
You are based in Mechelen and will travel occasionally to the project countries (about 5% of the time).
What will you do?You are a subject matter expert:
- you develop a thorough understanding of the expertise areas of Belgian Red Cross – Flanders, in both a development and a humanitarian setting.
- Together with your colleagues, you proactively follow the latest developments in scientific research in our thematic areas.
- Based on this, you formulate, document, propagate and implement best practices in our programs.
You develop new materials/delivery mechanisms:
Together with the technical project managers, who are flying regularly to the project countries, - you map local needs and develop new materials - You set up new delivery mechanisms to meet those needs.
You continuously improve project impact:
- you gather data to monitor and assess the effectiveness of the projects - you implement the results of primary and secondary research together with the Belgian Red Cross Flanders' Centre for Evidence Based Practice.
You design projects:
- you design the intervention logic for new projects and support in writing proposals.Who are you? - You are familiar with, or looking forward to dive into, the world of developmental and humanitarian aid - You enjoy developing educational material and thinking about the best way to deliver aid in a disaster context - You combine a hands-on mentality with an accurate approach - You have a scientific/medical background - You have a master degree or equal by experience - Experience in disasterpreparedness is considered an advantage - Experience in setting up primary research or in gathering and analysing data is an asset - You are fluent in Dutch and English.
