Trading Power Department overview:
The power sector is undergoing fundamental change.
In particular, three major trends, the 3 D’s, are driving this reshaping:
decarbonization, decentralization and digitalization.
Trading Power department has the ambition “to accelerate the energy transition through market solutions”.
It is actively managing renewable market risks in CWE (Germany, France, Netherlands & Belgium) on aggregation of wind (onshore/offshore) and photovoltaic renewable production (7000 MW under management).
Efficient management and integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be key to serve this transition.
Renewable Operations team depending of the Trading Power department is responsible for:
Ensuring the smooth running of Renewable and BESS Trading Power operations Providing the relevant tools to actively manage contracts owned by RES and BESS Trading Power Facilitating the production of reports and analysis on data Support GECs & INT (GEMS renewable trading activities outside CWE) by deploying and adapting Renewable Operations tools to their specific environment Ensure a high data quality from assets under management JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Challenges:
Actively contribute to the access of flexibility markets for Renewable Operations and deploy Batteries in our portfolio.
Support value creation out of assets on flexibility market with the help of Trading Power and Short-Term operations.
Support and deploy BESS assets in our portfolio:
understand the market, pricing methodologies, long term hedging strategies, DA nomination processes, ancillary services markets, and invoicing.
Build a strong knowledge of flexibility markets for RES and BESS and deploy processes in our evolving IS environment.
Be the portfoliomanager for the scope of Netherlands:
Guarantee smooth operations for Netherlands assets.
Support Netherlands global projects.
Mission/Main Activities:
Follow also very closely the BESS and Netherlands related activities across the cluster Power NWE.
Test different setups and solutions to allow the correct representation of BESS assets and contracts into Renewable Operations and Trading chain (for example Emsys, GECO, Meteor/OT,…) in order to provide the optimisation, trading, and operational chain with the correct portfolio position and ensure the correct real-time position operations and exposure Prepare the Renewable Operations and Trading Power set-up to allow for a seamless integration of batteries into general operations Communicate with internal stakeholders (Intraday Trading, Dispatch, Trading and others such as Finance, Back Office and Risk) to ensure their operational needs can be correctly addressed for NL and BESS.
Apply data management best practices and be the guardian of data quality and process improvements for NL & BESS.
Keep a high knowledge of automated processes to investigate operational issues and ensure daily operations run smoothly for NL & BESS Support the deployment of local BESS initiatives (e.g.
in Germany) into Renewable Operations and Trading Power landscape QUALIFICATIONS The candidate would have:
master’s degree in engineering, business engineering, mathematics or physics.
5 years in portfolio management and data analysis Familiar with Finance and/or Energy fields Experience in coding and scripting with Python Experienced in working closely with IT Data management skills A strong focus on business outcomes Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders Fluent English is required German, Dutch or French is a plus.
